“People can learn a lot of stuff but still think in their old ways.  They often think that when they believe something fully, it’s certain to be true. In that way, people can be dangerous. It’s comfortable being certain, but I would be happier if more people realized how deeply mistaken they can be.

Everyone should learn something that violates their intuitions, and then learn why their intuitions were violated.  Learning counterintuitive stuff gives us a kind of appropriate modesty in our judgments.”
