“I’m unemployed right now. I actually loved the job that I quit a couple months ago; I was a concierge that got to know the residents of an apartment and people asked me to walk their dogs or tutor English. But it didn’t pay well enough, and I don’t just want to be a concierge for the rest of my life, so I quit. And now I just try to find ways to fill up my time, like solving crossword puzzles at coffee shops.

I used to paint a lot of weird things like octopus-women and abstract shapes and stuff. I’d try selling them but it didn’t really work out. Meaningful things like that make people ask, ‘What the heck is that?’ But when I paint things that don’t mean anything to me, people say, ‘Oh, that’s great!’
